Adsorption
Activated Carbon Adsorption
Envanio’s activated carbon adsorption is based on the physical adsorption process to purify industrial process air of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from industrial exhaust air, with the option for solvent recovery. In our regenerative systems, both the adsorbent and solvents are recovered for reuse, while in non-regenerative systems, the spent activated carbon is safely disposed of or replaced along with the captured pollutants.
Adsorptive Recovery of a Wide Range of Solvents
| Process | Adsorption (Regenerative System) |
|---|---|
| Exhaust Gas Temperature | maximum 104 °F |
| Exhaust Air Humidity | maximum 55% |
| Destruction Efficiency | up to 99% |
| Typical Target Pollutants | Ethylacetate, Toluene, Methylene Chloride, Eptane, Halogenated Hydrocarbons, Pentane |
Each system is custom-designed based on your requirements and processes.

Non-Regenerative Systems as a Cost-Effective Alternative
For applications with total annual emissions of less than ten metric tons, non-regenerative activated carbon adsorption systems offer an economical, low-capital solution. Our non-regenerative activated carbon adsorption systems effectively remove trace amounts of diverse pollutants from exhaust air, ranging from volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) to solvents, odors, and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). Once the carbon bed is fully saturated, it is exchanged for fresh activated carbon. These systems are available as single units or pre-assembled skids to minimize installation time and on-site commissioning.
Typical Applications for Activated Carbon Adsorption
Envanio designs and manufactures systems for the purification of exhaust air and the recovery of solvents tailored to the specific requirements of your facility’s production processes. Thanks to their rugged design and reliable solvent recovery, our activated carbon adsorption systems are well suited for the following applications.
